Welcome to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Community stands at the center of our identity. We gather around Water and Word so that we will be prepared to serve in the community in which we live. We are called to be servants to the Burbank area in the name of Jesus Christ. In gratitude for all that God has given us we openly share compassion and love to all. Truly, we are blessed to be a blessing. We invite you to become a part of our community of faith.
We are called to grow in God’s love through worship and study in word and sacraments, to be an ever-greater servant to our community and the world through a ministry of love and care.
Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church was founded in 1954, as a mission church of the American Lutheran Church, and incorporated in 1955. Today, Our Savior's is part of the Metro-Chicago Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, better known as the ELCA, a progressive community of faith in the Lutheran fellowship.
The Lutheran Church takes its name from Martin Luther, a leading figure in the Protestant Reformation. From the earliest times the key focus of the Lutheran Church has been to share God’s love which comes to us unconditionally. There is nothing in our lives, good or bad, which can increase or decrease the love we receive from God because it comes to us as a gift from God. Jesus delivered the gift. As we trust in God we discover the forgiveness of our wrongs, difficulties, and hurts. That is why we invite all people, no matter their background, to be a part of the Our Savior’s community and receive Holy Communion every week. No matter our faith or our doubts, we trust in God for our relationship because we cannot earn God’s acceptance.
Our Savior was established over 70 years ago. Over the years as the congregation has grown we have come to be known as a place for people to gather and grow in faith and well-being. The 30 12 Step Groups that meet at Our Savior’s call our congregation home. We readily admit that we are not perfect people but we want to offer our love, worship, care and service to God as fully as possible by God’s direction.
